Heineken Ireland Scoops Business Sustainability Mark For ‘Green Brewer’ Practices

Heineken Ireland’s sustainable business practices have been recognised as the drinks company achieves the Business Working Responsibly mark, developed by Business in the Community Ireland

Audited by the NSAI, the mark is based on ISO 26000 and is the only independently audited standard for CSR and sustainability in Ireland.

Managing Director of HEINEKEN Ireland Maarten Schuurman, Managing Director of HEINEKEN Ireland said that the achievement is “an important milestone” and “inspires us all to redouble our sustainability efforts”.

“The mark serves as a clear signal to our stakeholders and our customers and consumers that we are listening; that we know sustainability matters to them as much as it does to us; and that we are working every day to make Heineken Ireland a truly green brewer,” he said.

In its most recent sustainability report, Heineken Ireland said that it was achieving zero-waste-to-landfill, and also achieving its target of a 20pc CO2 reduction within its distribution network, three years ahead of its 2020 schedule.

Earlier this year, the drinks company was also shortlisted for two Chambers Ireland CSR awards.

CEO of Business in the Community Ireland Tomás Sercovich said that the company’s work in the areas is “exemplary”.
